Community Values. Experience. Leadership.
A native of the North Shore, I grew up in a community that provided me with a strong moral and ethical foundation. I am proud to raise my own family with the same values and resources in the local community that supported me. Now, as a former Councilwoman representing the Town of North Hempstead, I was honored to represent the people of District 4.
I continue my dedication to local issues that are important to my neighbors. I learned the importance of political involvement from my parents who immigrated to the United States in 1965 as political refugees. I immersed myself in the community when my husband and I decided to raise our children in Great Neck. I became a member of the Village of Kensington Zoning Board of Appeals to focus on responsible growth and the integrity of the neighborhood. I expanded my professional business and finance skills as the co-founder and former co-president of North Shore Action, a non-partisan community action group that advocates on local, largely bipartisan issues such as pedestrian safety, mental health, gun safety and protection of the local environment.
Engagement is important in all aspects of our community, which is why I also served Temple Israel of Great Neck as a member of the Executive Committee and as Vice President of Programming. Before moving to Great Neck, I was also elected co-president to the Parent Teacher Association of the Solomon Schechter School of Queens where I also served on the Board. After moving to Great Neck, I have been involved in the PTA and was part of the team redrafting the mission and vision statements of the Schechter School of Long Island. I am confident in the ethical foundations that my husband and I have provided our children on the North Shore.
The tremendous value of a good education has been instilled in me from the beginning, and I am a lifelong learner. I earned a bachelor’s degree in Political Science at the University of Chicago and graduated on the Dean’s List of the Georgetown University Law Center.
I look forward to continuing to work with you!
